When I swaped the engine on my ZX (Longitudal 2.8 I6) I keept it under 3000rpm for the first 10k miles; It is a manual, but this is actually a normal break-in period. You didnt say if you have a manual or auto, but if you have an auto it will be a little harder. Although, the same would apply, 3-4k rpm.
